Description

RIEGGER rotula dressing tools are a further development of the "multigran" multigrain dresser. Like the latter, they also offer easy handling and robust operation. Their characteristic feature is the special arrangement of their impregnation, which consists of diamond needles mounted in a sintered metal bond.

When one row of diamonds reaches an advanced stage of wear, a small wheel clamped in a holder is unclamped and rotated about its axis until the next row of diamonds moves into working position. Following reclamping, it is then ready for further use.
Frequent rotation of the tool, e.g. every day, enhances dressing results.

Due to the favorable ratio of their useful width to their useful length, multigrain dressers with a diamond needle impregnation are more cost-effective than dressing tools with a diamond grain impregnation and a comparable useful width.


Process criteria

Due to their impregnation pattern, the diamond needles of uniform size and model result in a relatively constant effective width.

Due to the setting order applied here, several diamonds which determine the process result with their effective width are in working position.

Due to the large number of diamond cutting points effective in the dressing process, a favorable size constant can be achieved with the rotula dressing tool.

Overlap rate 'ud' (<=6) is determined with the corresponding correcting variable of the dressing traverse speed.


Range of application

Single-profile dressing of straight grinding wheels.

External cylindrical and centerless grinding:
- Batch and line production
- All grinding wheel dimensions
- All grinding wheel specifications, especially grinding wheels with medium to coarse grain   sizes

Not recommended for:
- Dressing internal grinding tools
- Face grinding, since the required fitting size L is not available

Application tips
There must be a perfect fit between the holder of the diamond dressing tool and the dressing device. Otherwise dimensionally stable dressing with a true profile is not possible.
Align the axis of the small dressing wheel parallel to the grinding wheel
Cooling improves the dressing results considerably and is mandatory for exacting dressing requirements. A strong and continuous flow of cooling medium must be fed to the contact zone prior to the beginning of the dressing process.
Dressing is performed at a normal or reduced grinding wheel speed.
Infeed increments of up to approx. 0.01 mm per dressing operation are possible.
