Description

Due to their simple and rugged design, RIEGGER "multigran" multigrain diamond dressing tools are especially suitable for less demanding dressing tasks. The diamond grains are mounted in a cylindrical shaped sintered metal insert.


Process criteria

Multiple diamonds of varying effective width are simultaneously in contact with the workpiece during the dressing process. The effective width changes erratically, since the number and size of the diamond cutting points contacting the workpiece constantly change due to wear. The effective width of tools of this type is relatively large due to the diamond model involved and the possible overlapping of several diamond cutting points. In order to prevent this from resulting in process neutralization and a loss of cost effectiveness, an overlapping rate ud<=6 must be realized via the correcting variable of the dressing traverse speed.

A good dimensional constant is attained with the multigran dressing tool due to the large number of diamond cutting points effective during the dressing process.


Range of application

Single-profile dressing of straight grinding wheels, external cylindrical and face grinding:
- Batch and line production
- All grinding wheel dimensions
- Manual dressing
- All grinding wheel specifications, especially grinding wheels with medium to coarse grain   sizes


Not recommended for:
- Dressing internal grinding tools
- High-volume external cylindrical and centerless grinding

Application tips
There must be a perfect fit between the holder of the diamond dressing tool and the dressing device. Otherwise dimensionally stable dressing with a true profile is not possible.
Cooling improves the dressing results considerably and is mandatory for exacting dressing requirements. A strong and continuous flow of cooling medium must be fed to the contact zone prior to the beginning of the dressing process.
Dressing is performed at a normal or reduced grinding wheel speed.
Infeed increments of up to approx. 0.01 mm per dressing operation are possible.
